Site Preparation and Grading
Site Preparation and Grading in Coeur d’Alene
Every build starts with the dirt. Lacosapreziosa clears, strips topsoil, moves cut and fill, and grades a raw parcel to the engineer’s plan so your pad sits at the right elevation with drainage running the way it should. We work lots across Coeur d’Alene and Kootenai County, from lakeside infill off Government Way to acreage in the timber, and we finish with a compacted subgrade ready for footings.
Why Grading Comes First
A pad that drains toward the house, sits off elevation, or hides soft soil under the footprint turns into a wet crawl space or a cracked slab. Rough grading moves the bulk of the material and sets the broad drainage pattern, then finish grading dials in the exact pad grade and slopes. Getting this right before concrete is ordered is the cheapest insurance on the whole project.
Our Process
We call 811 for underground locates, strip and stockpile the topsoil, then cut to grade with an excavator and dozer while a laser or GPS grade system keeps the surface true. Fill goes down in lifts and is compacted to roughly 95 percent of maximum dry density, verified by a Proctor test. Silt fence and inlet protection keep the site within stormwater rules while we work.
